Marginal-Fermi-liquid behavior from two-dimensional Coulomb interaction

چکیده
A full, nonperturbative renormalization group analysis of interacting electrons in a graphite layer is performed, in order to investigate the deviations from Fermi-liquid theory that have been observed in the experimental measures of a linear quasiparticle decay rate in graphite. The electrons are coupled through Coulomb interactions, which remain unscreened due to the semimetallic character of the layer. We show that the model flows towards the noninteracting fixed point for the whole range of couplings, with logarithmic corrections which signal the marginal character of the interaction separating Fermi-liquid and non-Fermi-liquid regimes. @S0163-1829~99!50204-X#

Non - Fermi Liquid Behaviour of Electrons in the Half - filled Honeycomb Lattice ( A renormalization group approach )
A system of electrons in the two-dimensional honeycomb lattice with Coulomb interactions is described by a renormalizable quantum field theory similar but not equal to QED 3. Renormalization group techniques are used to investigate the infrared behavior of the system that flows to a fixed point with non-Fermi liquid characteristics. There are anomalous dimensions in the fermionic observables, n...
متن کاملEmergent Non-Fermi-Liquid at the Quantum Critical Point of a Topological Phase Transition in Two Dimensions.
We study the effects of Coulomb interaction between 2D Weyl fermions with anisotropic dispersion which displays relativistic dynamics along one direction and nonrelativistic dynamics along the other. Such a dispersion can be realized in phosphorene under electric field or strain, in TiO_{2}/VO_{2} superlattices, and, more generally, at the quantum critical point between a nodal semimetal and an...
متن کاملNon-Fermi Behavior of the Strongly Correlated Electron Systems
(1) The temperature dependence of the specific heat for a marginal Fermi liquid has been calculated . We showed that the expected T lnT correction is characteristic for the low temperature domain. The high temperature domain has a supplementary correction. The results are in agreement with the non-Fermi behavior of some metallic systems in the low temperature domain. (2) We calculated the self-...
متن کاملUnified theory of strongly correlated electron systems
In framework of eigen-functional bosonization method, we introduce an imaginary phase field to uniquely represent electron correlation, and demonstrate that the Landau Fermi liquid theory and the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid theory can be unified. It is very clear in this framework that the TomonagaLuttinger liquid behavior of one-dimensional interacting electron gases originates from their Fermi ...
متن کاملNon Fermi liquid renormalization of the conductivity
The method of the quantum kinetic equation is applied to the problem of renormalization of the conductivity of normal metals by gauge electron-electron interactions. It is shown that in the three-dimensional case the relativistic electromagnetic interaction (vector interaction of electrons with transverse photons) leads to an unusual temperature dependence, indicating a deviation from the Fermi...
